John Crosby

John Crosby what is there to say?

He was a little boy who had cancer.

He only lived til he was eight.

My sister was in his class

And I met him once or twice.

We had a conversation and he was extremely nice.

The nurses at the hospital said he took it like a bear

He only complained once when he told his dad "it's just not fair."

When I got home from school my mom was on the phone

The person on the other end spoke in deathly tone.

My mom hung up and looked at me and said a simple phrase

I felt like crying when she said it my mind was in a haze.

For what she said was simple it was "John Crosby's dead"

I could hear it through my ears but I could not get it in my head.

So live life to its fullest like each day is your last

When you need guidance for your future just look into your past.

And one more thing before you leave, before we say goodbye

Please find time to remember the little boy who never cried.
